A Distant Summer voted 'Best' of 2010
A Distant Summer was voted Best Mainstream Novel of 2010 in the annual Preditors & Editors Readers' Poll released February 1, 2011. A bittersweet love story, adventure, mystery set primarily in 1954 southern Indiana, the novel was in first place throughout the voting.

Welcome to my world!
It's been an exciting place since I retired in 2001 after thirty-five years in education as an English teacher and high school guidance counselor. I'd always wanted to write, and retirement offered that opportunity. I'd like to share four writing achievements I'm proud of.
My children's picture book, Sammy the Shivering Snowblower, was released by 4RV Publishing October 2011.
My novel, A Distant Summer, was released by 4RV Publishing in May 2010.
Since May 1, 2005, I've written over a hundred biweekly humorous Mike's World articles for Midwest News (www.mwnews.net), an online newspaper that serves southwest Wisconsin and northwest Iowa.
A tongue-in-cheek article I wrote in 2002 telling how considerate I am toward my wife has been read by millions around the world. Unfortunately, only a few people know I wrote the famous article.
I've e-mailed over a hundred editions of the Hooticat Newsletter to relatives telling about simple, everyday happenings in my world. And now you can read them too because when you visit this site, you're part of the family.
